Spanish Bullfighting

Objective: Students will understand the cultural significance and meaning of the bullfight. Collaborating with their peers students will compare/contrast articles about bullfighting. In addition, students will research internet sources on the ethical aspects of bullfighting, and exercise their argumentative skills by creating a persuasive essay for or against bullfighting.
You will first research the history and process of bullfighting to understand its impact upon Spain. Next you will investigate the Pros/Cons held by Spaniards to decide the cultural value this activity would bring to the upcoming trip. After completing your investigation, you must decide whether Spanish Bullfighting is a highly valuable cultural experience that needs to be added to the itinerary or an outdated pastime. You will create a Spanish persuasive essay to present to the World Language Travel Club committee about your findings to convince them to either add or withdraw attending a Spanish Bullfight to the upcoming foreign trip.
