Roanoke, the Lost Colony
Task
You will work in a team of 3 to present a case of what you believe really happened to the lost colonists of Roanoke Island.
Using your background knowledge of the different native tribes that lived in North America as well as the cultural regions, think about what life would be like for European settlers. How accessible was food, and materials to build a shelter. Would the native people in that area been helpful or dangerous for the European settlers?
This exploration will be broken into three days.
Day 1: Building a background understanding of the very difficult first year the settlers had on Roanoke Island.
Day 2: Select 3 out of 5 theories to investigate individually
Day 3: Review the theories and select one. Create an oral presentation for the class.
