What Tooth Am I Holding?
Task
After dividing into groups of six, each students' task will be to take one tooth from the group of teeth in front of them. If two people choose the same tooth, the person whose birthday is closest to the first of a month will redraw from the pile so that your collaborative group has six different teeth. Using the steps presented, research your tooth morphology and record the factors that cause you to identify the tooth as a certain tooth number. Document and report to your group at the culmination of your research. Be prepared to share the information that helped you to determine the tooth number with your group in a way that creates knowledge and confidence in your classmates to correctly assign the appropriate tooth number to your tooth. If there is a difference of opinion within your group, collaborative research must be done to correctly assign a tooth number to each of your six teeth. Once your group has determined the correct tooth number of each tooth a short verbal report will be presented to the entire class. Be sure to read the rubric so you know what is expected of you.
