Interferometry

You have taken a summer intern position at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) and have been assigned to the Exoplanet Exploration Mission broadly titled Planet Quest  and specifically you are working with the Space Interferometry Mission (SIM Lite) scientific team.  SIM Lite is an upcoming satellite which uses interferometry to detect planets around distance stars, this is called Exoplanet Exploration. Since you are new to the team the team leader has assigned you several tasks to familiarize you with interferometry.  Your main task will be to prepare  and present a 5-10 minute PowerPoint presentation illustrating what you are learned about interferometry from its basic history to its application as a key element in the Planet Quest mission.
