WebQuest
Holiday Maker
Task
Tasks
What are you going to do in this webquest?
You are going to design the perfect holiday for teenagers. A holiday they can go on on their own or with their whole family.
Your teacher will put together groups of four students.
Each group discusses what makes a really good holiday and what makes a bad holiday.
Then the group looks into what parents find important when organising a holiday for (or with) their teenage children (after all, they pay for the holiday!)
Now you know what you must include in your holiday and what you must avoid and it is time to be creative! Search the net for good ideas and come up with the ideal location, really cool accomodation, the most fun activities and the best price for your perfect holiday.
Finally you have to make a poster to advertise your holiday and present your ideas to the class in a short presentation. When every group has presented their holiday everyone in the class has to decide which holiday they would most want to book. Will your group's holiday get the most reservations?
Roles
You work on this webquest in a group of four. Some tasks you do individually, some tasks you do together. Sometimes all group members have to do the same task, and some tasks you will divide up between you.
Each choose one of the following organisational roles:
1. Chairperson: chairs and plans the meetings.
2. Product monitor: makes sure the products are made so that the group's dossier is completed in time.
3. Team monitor: makes sure the group works well together, that everyone does their fair share of the work, and is responsible for the filling in the final evaluation/reflection form.
4. Question Master: is the only group member who can ask the teacher questions if there are difficulties or queries.
When designing the holiday each group member takes responsibility for one of the following holiday aspects:
1. Location
2. Accomodation
3. Activities
4. Price
Products
Your final dossier will include the following products:
1. Matrix with good and bad holiday ideas.
2. List of what parents want.
3. For each aspect of your holiday (location, accomodation, activities and price) the reasons for your final choice.
4. Marketing poster.
5. Final presentation in class.
6. Group reflection/evaluation.
Now go to the Process page and follow all the steps carefully.
Good luck!
