Math Project Plan a Party
Description: Now, after you have practiced on using fractions you will begin a project. For this project, students will use math skills to plan a party with a budget of $100. You will be paired up with a classmate and you both will have to organize what you will need for this party. Start planning! Resources to use; use the Internet!! Research what store you will buy your items from. You will need to find out how many guests you will invite, and you will use fractions to make sure you will have enough cups, sodas, food, etc. For example, you will have 20 guests, and at the store they have packages of 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 cups. Which package would you buy? Show that in a fraction form. (20/30) For decimals, you will have to add prices for all of your items and show them as decimals. So, 5.65+3.99, etc. Don't forget to multiply the tax. For example, 5.65 x 8.25% would get you the tax. Add all of the items then multiply times the percentage. Organize your thoughts and plan, plan, plan!
