Film Studies: The Silent Era (1915-1928) LESSON #2

I will be giving you bits of information, but I'm going to leave the details of the material up to the weblinks that will be posted here on this Webquest.  I want you to go the webpages that I have posted and take notes from what you get out of that resource.

YOUR PAPER ASSIGNMENT:  Next week after all of you have had sufficent time to look at this Webquest, I will screen, in class, F.W. Murnau's Sunrise which won an Oscar for Best Picture (in Unique and Artistic Production).  In the paper I want you to dive into the film and it's filmaker.  Why did it win an Oscar?  I want a brief biography of F.W. Murnau.  Did you enjoy the film?  Why or why not?  What was the experience like watching a silent film?

KEEP IN MIND:  All material that is shown here is fair game for the final, so don't focus your attention on just finding out information for the paper.
