When the Relatives Came...

Here are your activities:

Get Ready, Get Set, GO!

FIRST...

I will read - The Relatives Came - by Cynthia Rylant.

You will take the knowledge learned from the book, The Relatives Came, and write/illustrate/act out your own story. I will go over the three groups and their jobs. This is where you will think about what group you want to be in.

THEN...

Choose your group~  You will divide up into three different groups, each group doing only one of the three activities. Choose your groups wisely! If you don't like to get up in front of people, then don't choose group three.

group one: write a narrative about your time spent with relatives, recount all the fun/sweet/crazy stuff that happens, or make up a family of your own to have a reunion with.  

group two: add drawings/illustrations to relay the author's theme of the story.

group three: create an audio /video recording of the story to show the class.

The FUN STUFF...

You will be given any technology to use to record your story: laptop, digital camera, and camcorder to record your play of the book. You can also choose props to recreate your play.

You will have lots of art supplies at your finger tips: crayons, markers, colored pencils, acrylics, watercolors to illustrate the book.
