Agents of Socialization

As part of the sociology studies curriculum on socialization and its agents, you will assigned to collaborative groups where you will research the assigned theorists and theories surrounding socialization, its agent and their impact.  You will conduct a case study and interviews and report your findings in the form of a paper and electronic presentation.  


You will be required to research information online, read recommended texts and extract the important information that needs to be included in your research paper.

In the assignment you will be required to:

1. Define Socialization; and list and define its agents;

2. Engage in research and discussions, and should display the ability to identify the components of each agent of  socialization;

3. Outline the impact or influence that each element can have on an individual. State whether it�s positive or negative; 

4. Highlight the importance of technology in the collection, analysis and presentation of the data collected;

5. Show evidence of interaction with resources that include your peers, teachers, experts on the topic, print and electronic text and databases; 

6.     Show how the use of technology can facilitate the research process and experiences that advance students' learning, creativity and innovation; and

7. Demonstrate an understanding of the concept of socialization and its impact 
        on learning by doing an electronic presentation.  

Case study question: Which, if any of the agents of socialization has the greatest impact on young adult learners, and why?  The case study should carried out by employing the use of quantitative methods, such as questionnaires.  The findings must be presented in the form of a written report and electronic presentation.
