The Lives and Journeys of African American Slaves in Northern America

Students will learn about the experiences of African-Americans under the institution of slavery by exploring and researching materials online and in the library, including information from primary and secondary sources.  They will share the information gathered with classmates and present information about individual slaves by creating a pamphlet, written in the first person, describing a life in slavery.  The goal is to improve the students literacy, reading, and writing skills.  In addition to learning about slavery, in regards to, social studies content.
