How does statistical sampling help us make predictions?

To demonstrate how sampling works and the concept of sampling error, students will do a group activity using M&M's.  Out of a jar of M&Ms, students will obtain a random sample of M&Ms in which each color of M&M is proportionally represented within the sample.
