- Form a group with 1-2 other class members.
- Determine what product it is you want license and produce (the product must a real product made by a real company either now or sometime in the past but you don't have to worry about whether it is already being sold in the country your fictional company will be located or not).
- Find the address and contact information for the company that is responsible for producing, licensing, and marketing the product you are interested in.
- Create a background story for your fictional company. This will include (a) your company's name, (b) how many employees it has, (c) what country your business does business in, (d) how many factories your company owns, (d) what cities and states or provinces these factories are located in, (e) what type/kind of products your company currently produces, manufactures, and markets, (f) how the company you wish to license this product from will benefit from partnership with your company, and (g) a fictional name that you created who will serve as the representative of the company, and (h) the formal job title this fictional person holds.
- Fill out the skeletal conventions form.
- Submit your draft of the business letter to your instructor for feedback.
- Revise your draft into a final draft. Sign the letter with the name of the fictional representative you have created, place the letter in an envelope. Address the envelope properly and hand over the letter to you teacher.
- Wait for your response from the company (i.e., the teacher)!
