PROPERTIES OF THE GRAPH OF A QUADRATIC
The graph of y=ax2
+ bx +c is a parabola that:

  • opens up if a>0, and opens down is a<0
  • narrower if |a|>1, and  wider if |a|<1
  • the axis of symmetry is x= -b/2a
  • the vertex is (-b/2a, f(-b/2a))
Now, go to the following websites to find examples of graphing quadratic equations.

When you are ready, answer the following questions to turn in tomorrow.

Graph y=3x2 -6x+2.
a. What is the vertex?
b. What is the axis of symmetry?
c. What are x-intercepts?
d. What is the y-intercept?
