1) You and your group have been assigned a specific wild animal to research.

2) To be an expert on your animal, make a chart with the following aspects and take down notes:

  • type of animal/classification: mammal, bird, fish, reptile, amphibian
  • habitat/place where it lives
  • abilities
  • eating habits
  • behaviour
  • reproduction
  • endangered animal: yes/no
  • more characteristics

3) Use the following websites to become an expert on your assigned animal:

Animal Facts (National Geographic)

Characteristics of animals (video)

Penguins

Polar Bears

Dolphins

Panda Bears

Sea Turtles

Frogs

Fish

4) After you have collected information about your animal, you and your group will create a PowerPoint presentation and teach the class about your animal.

5) To make sure that everyone in your group contributes to the project, each student in the group will be assigned a specific job:

  • Recorder: is in charge of writing down pertinent information about the animal. Keep in mind that everyone must complete the chart, though.
  • Web navigator: is in charge of navigating the Internet resources that your teacher has provided for you to use.
  • PowerPoint navigator: is in charge of navigating PowerPoint and typing information into the presentation, although everyone should give input regarding what information to include and how to design the presentation.
  • Time keeper/materials organizer: is in charge of being sure the group is aware of how much time is left to do the tasks needed to get the project finished. The time keeper/materials organizer is also in charge of retrieving any other materials needed by the group (books, paper, writing utensils, arts and crafts materials, etc.)

Everyone in the group must contribute to the final product and must play a role in presenting the PowerPoint and teaching the class about the wild animal. Your PowerPoint must contain pictures, music and the relevant information you gathered using the chart.
