Phase 1

You will visit and explore each of the links provided. The links are varied and provide you with enough information for you to choose (1} one aspect of human impact on the environment you wish to address. While visiting the links you will have the roles of newspaper or editorial editor and also movie critic. You will need to take careful notes from each of your links and provide a summary of what you have learned to your teacher. You decide what format to do your summaries in (graphic organizers, Cornell notes or an outline). After completing your summaries you will create your own vlog presentations on PowerPoint, Prezi, or Weebly. Use the checklist below to keep you on task. Your summary and vlog will be submitted in your notebook in TEAMS in the section labeled Final

Phase 2

Your creativity and originality are important in your final results!

1. Your choice of (1) one aspect of human impact on the environment will be presented in a science fair type poster board format. You will discuss your chosen topic. Analyze the problem or problems associated with it and develop workable solutions to solve or alleviate the problem. You will submit a summary to your teacher of your choice of (1) one Human Impact problem and its solution and what you learned in your notebook in TEAMS in the section labeled Final

2. On PowerPoint, Prezi, or Weebly you will create a vlog to discuss your findings and solutions no more than 10 minutes long, submit and upload in your notebook in TEAMS in the section labeled Final

The presentation explains how human impacts can directly affect species survival, using plastic waste as an example. The activities then encourage students to consider how the impact of plastic waste could be measured, why measuring our impact on the environment is important and how the impact can be reduced. The activity takes two hours and would also be suitable for completing as homework.
