Character Traits in The Giver

Complete the steps below:

1. Watch the following video clip about character traits. Based on the video, start brainstorming character traits of Jonas and write them in your reading journal.                     Character Traits Video 

2. Read these sample character traits. What traits do some of the characters have in common throughout The Giver?        Trait List

3. Now get with a partner and trace each other on poster paper (one on each side), given by the teacher.

4. These are your outlines of Jonas and the other characters. Add the character traits that you two found for Jonas inside the outline of Jonas, and do the same for the similar traits that you two found for the similar traits characters throughout the story have. 

5. Once your group has finished, meet with another group and compare each other's character traits for both sides.
