Part 1: It’s important that you review the different types of angles before you help Kazimir Malevich.

Part 2: Next, you should touch up on your knowledge of lines.

  • Click here to review parallel and perpendicular lines.

Part 3: Now that you are a master of all angles and lines, you are ready to jump in the studio (place where artists work) and help Malevich! Follow the steps below to create a masterpiece. You will be using a blank canvas (construction paper) and different colored line strips to create an acute, obtuse, right, and straight angle as well as parallel and perpendicular lines. It does not matter where these angles and lines go on your masterpiece, they will all be unique!

Materials:

  • Blank canvas (full piece of paper)
  • Two of each color strip (you should have 12 total)
  • Blank Key
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Colored pencils or crayons (you should have 6 colors total: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and black)

Steps:
  1. Assign each color strip an angle or line. Make sure you color in the box on your key to match what you plan to put on your canvas.
  2. Start your masterpiece! Feel free to cut any strip to make it shorter. Then glue your angles and lines to keep them in place.
  3. Once you have glues all strips down, make sure that your key is fully colored and matches your masterpiece.
  4. Glue your key to the back of your canvas.
  5. Voila! Your work is ready to be hung in the Louvre!
