The class will be divided into groups of 4-5. Each group will be required to participate in a group project, as well as an individual essay. The groups will be responsible for the research of important documents in creating an outstanding government. The assignments have been broken down into 5 days, along with resources, which are located at the bottom in the resource section of this web Quest.

The importance of this assignment is to understand the process and contribution of the Founding Fathers of the United States Government, as well as understand the importance of being a good citizen.

Day 1:
Create your very own Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, or constitution. As a group you will research each of the previous documents and decide which one you will create for your government.

Day 2:
Create your very own laws. Describe the structure of your government. As a group you will collaborate on creating laws for your new government. Given your current knowledge on laws in your community and through research, you each will come up with 5 laws and punishments if they are broken, and choose the best 15 for your presentation at the end of the week.

Day 3:
Create the roles and responsibilities of citizens in your government. As a group, collaborate on what it means to be an outstanding citizen in your government. Describe what it would look like. You may use magazines for clippings, drawings, and the internet to print out pictures for this collage that will be presented at the end of the week as a group.

Day 4:
Describe your contributions in creating your own government. Each member of the group will spend the day describing what contributions they made to creating your own government. This is an individual activity and should be written in a 5 paragraph essay that is to be turned in at the end of the week.

Day 5:
Present your government. As a group you will promote how great your government is. Your group leader (the President) will make their formal introduction about how wonderful it is to be a great citizen in your newly found government. As a group you will present a short part of your Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, or Constitution. The most important laws will be placed onto a poster board for all to see, as well as the roles and responsibilities of being a citizen.

Each member of the group will write a 5 paragraph essay describing their roles and contributions in creating the newly founded government.
