In-depth look into a Concentration/Internment Camp

Day 1: Explanation/Project Planning
You will be asked to complete the bell work assignment which will be to write down the two new vocabulary words on the word wall and define them in your own words, then with the actual definition you will have 10 minutes to complete this.
You  will then  have 3 minutes to choose a partner to work on a project with. All groups will then number off 1,2,1,2 and so on. When all the groups have a number then I will explain the group project. Your group will have 5 days including today to create a eye catching presentation on a European concentration camp or an American Internment camp. The number 1's will choose from the list of concentration camps while the number 2's will choose from the list of internment camps. If your group wants to do a camp that is not listed your group will have to get it approved by me. When your group has chosen their camp you will come get it approved by me and then take one of the school computers and start researching your topic.

Things that you must include in your presentation will be
1. Name of camp
2. Population facts
3. Historical importance of the camps in Europe and America 
4. How Geography played a role in where the camps were built
5.  How the camps affected the country economically through unemployment
6. How did the different types of government help orchestrate the Holocaust?
7. why did none of the governments try to put a stop to them?
8. 5-10 interesting facts about the camp
9. Presentation must last 5-10 minutes

The Presentation will need to be 15 slides  if doing a power point or google presentation minimum including a title and reference page.
If doing a Prezi must have 15 transitions
If Creating a project of your choosing must come up with a plan and present the plan to me that meets all criteria.

Day 2: Research/Outline
You will be asked to complete the bell work assignment which will be to write down the two new vocabulary words on the word wall and define them in your own words, then with the actual definition you will have 10 minutes to complete this.
You will then  continue to research and start to create an outline for your presentation. This outline will be turned into me on the day of the presentations so that I can follow along. During the research phase I want to see cooperation and teamwork from all groups. I will be walking around to assist with anything your group needs. This assignment will be graded using a Rubric so make sure that you also ask for a copy of the Rubric to get an idea of what is expected. When you are done with all research and the outline you can start putting your presentation together please check with me before beginning.
Throughout the day I will be coming around and asking questions about your topic and about different resources you have found to help boost creativity in your presentation.

Day 3: Begin Working on Project
You will be asked to complete the bell work assignment which will be to write down the two new vocabulary words on the word wall and define them in your own words, then with the actual definition you will have 10 minutes to complete this.
Today you will start working on your projects. If you need materials that are not in the classroom please let me know so that I can send you to get them. You will have the whole hour to work with your groups use this time wisely.

Day 4: Finish Working on Project
You will be asked to complete the bell work assignment which will be to write down the two new vocabulary words on the word wall and define them in your own words, then with the actual definition you will have 10 minutes to complete this.
Your Projects will be Due by the end of the class today. You will spend the period working on your presentation and then you will show me your progress.

Day 5: Presentations
The students will be handed a graphic organizer at the beginning of class that will list the concentration and internment camps being presented on today.The students will draw numbers out of a hat to determine the order in which they will present.  They will be asked to follow along to the presentation and write down 3 things they did not know about the camp being presented. We will revisit this graphic organizer in the conclusion.
