Step 1: Scroll down to the video and click the "Play" button to begin listening to the story. Remember to pay attention to the rhyming words in the story AND what Horton decides to do about what he finds.

Step 2: Recall the words that Dr. Seuss used to make rhymes in his story and write them on a piece. Now, come up with your own words that rhyme with his and write them down. When your list is completed, look it over and make sure all of your words are real words, not just made up ones. If you are unsure whether a word is real or not, grab a dictionary and look to see if it's there. If you cannot find it, it probably is a made up word, try again!

Step 3: Draw a picture of your favorite scene in the story. Then, write a couple sentences on whether you agree or disagree with Horton's actions. Was Horton being a good friend? Would you have done something differently? Would you have helped Horton? Explain your thoughts.

Step 4: When you are finished, turn your work in to your teacher. You will have a class discussion about your reaction to the story and your feelings about things that happened.
