Process

For this teaching project, you will be researching, compiling, and creating something that can be used to educate patients on breastfeeding.  You can make a brochure, handout, movie/DVD, pamphlet, etc.  It must be something that is easily presented to patients (a power point would not be a good idea since it would require you bringing a computer to the patients room to show it to them) and must be easily read and understood by patients.  So, explaining things in an easy-to-read manner is a necessity.  This project must meet all criteria listed in the rubric.  So making sure to include breastfeeding basics, resources, complications, etc. (see rubric for full list of criteria).  You must also be prepared to present this project to a patient during your clinical rotation.  Remember, these patients have real questions and concerns so make this project something that could be helpful for the patient who is needing breastfeeding education.

Phase 1:

During the first phase of this Webquest, you will be researching and compiling the information you will be using in order to complete your education project.  The following links are to be used as resources for this quest.  Make sure your gather all required information so that all areas of breastfeeding education are covered.  See rubric for all criteria regarding the information needed in your teaching project.

Phase 2:

This is the phase in which you will plan your project.  Take the information learned till now and design an education project that will be truly helpful to patients.  You will need to create an outline of your project that you would like to complete and hand in before you get started.  I need to approve the final outline including what kind of teaching project you plan to create (brochure, handout, etc.)

BE CREATIVE! THE SKY IS THE LIMIT TO WHAT KIND OF PROJECT YOU CAN DO!  JUST MAKE SURE IT IS RELEVANT!

Phase 3:

This is the phase in which you will actually create your project.  Take all the learning and planning you have done until now and create a teaching project aimed to educate patients on all relevant areas of breastfeeding.  Remember to get your idea approved ahead of time.
