Follow these instructions to complete your webquest.  Feel free to check out the Evaluation tab for guidelines how to earn the most points from your entries!

1)  Check out this interactive map of Ancient Greece

http://www.childrensuniversity.manchester.ac.uk/interactives/history/greece/exploreancientgreece/

Let's get started!

Objective #1-  Choose a region from the map (click on the button at the right hand bottom corner) and engage in further research of the area.  Namely, be a history detective!  Discover an important history maker from that region and tell us all about that person in a one page paper!  Cite your sources using the link below (APA format please)!

2)  After that, go make your favorite snack and watch this very cool video about Ancient Greece.

Be sure to take a few notes for this next objective...

Objective #2-  Draw a comic strip detailing the three WEIRDEST or most FASCINATING facts about Ancient Greek life!  Get creative!  There is no wrong way to go about this!

3)  I can't keep this one to myself.  You've got to check out this list of 25 amazing Greek history makers from the Ancient World!

http://www.ducksters.com/history/ancient_greek_famous_people.php

Again, don't forget to jot down a few notes!  Choose one objective from the following list to complete the next objective!

Objective #3 options:

Choose two historical figures.  Write a one page paper (minimum, the sky's the limit) describing a dialogue of these two people.  If they were to meet in the acropolis, what would they talk about?  Would they get along?  Would they argue?  What would they agree upon?

-  Choose three figures total from the lists available on the page (philosopher, playwright, poet, historian, scientist, leader).  Make an Ancient Greece culture brochure detailing the appearance of these remarkable historical figures!  Tell us all about the highlights of their accomplishments and illuminate those accomplishments using your visual art skills!

4)  The Greeks loved Geometry.  Remember Euclid and Pythagorus from the list in Objective #3?

Go ahead and play around with the functions on this site.  Go ahead... explore!

Now peek at this site on Pythagorus and the Pythagorean Theorem.  And please, feel free to get lost in the links following the theorem as they are AWESOME.

Makes sense, doesn't it?

Now, draw and label a Pythagorean equation for ME to solve!  Go ahead and e-mail or text me, your esteemed tutor, a copy (you'll already have my info. if you are here).  Let's see if I can crack the code!

5)  Okay, great thinkers.  Let's talk philosophy.

Using this page, jot down some notes defining the key qualities of the philosophical branches:  The Stoics, The Skeptics, and The Epicureans.

Which school of thought do YOU most identify with?  Why?

http://www.historyforkids.org/learn/greeks/philosophy/

Write a journal entry telling us all about your discoveries.  Pretend you were speaking to a good friend.  What does it mean to be a Stoic, Skeptic, or Epicurean?  Which one do you identify with?  Which one do you think your friend ascribes to, and most importantly, WHY?

6)  Daily life has its ups and downs.  Familiarize yourself with the daily life of an Ancient Greek citizen!

Use the following resources to get to know what it was like to live in Ancient Greece:

NOW!  Create a character.  Is it female or male?  Old or young?  Employed, or homebound?  What are his/her goals?  What is the history of this person?  Write a journal entry detailing a day in the life of this novel citizen!  Don't skimp on the historical facts you have learned!
