Go to these sites so that you can find the answers to these very important questions.

  •  Piet Mondrian

http://artsmarts4kids.blogspot.com/2007/12/piet-mondrian.html

 1. What colors did Piet Mondrian mostly use?

 2. What is Cubism?

 3. Mondiran believed that the essence of all things could be found in what?

  •  The Color Wheel

 http://www.kidzone.ws/science/colorwheel.htm

 1. Why are the primary colors special?

 2. What are the secondary colors?

 http://www.kidzone.ws/science/colorwheel.htm

 3. Explain these Color Schemes:

  -Monochomratic:

  -Analogous:

  -Complimentary:

  -Cool:

  -Warm:

  • Now you know alot more about color! Artists can use color to draw attention to one area of a work of art or emphasize it. When an artist uses emphasis it's like using an exclamation point at the end of a sentence: it shows that that part of the picture is important and they almost force the viewer to look at it.

You did a great job investigating the artwork of Piet Mondrian and learning about color! Now it is your turn!

This is your challenge, use your knowledge of color to create a work of art that shows emphasis. You will do this by visiting this site and clicking on the color you want to use, then click on a space in the picture where you want that color to go. Remember Mondrian used the primary colors but you can choose different Color Schemes that you have learned (just be able to tell your teacher what you chose, for example analogous colors). Also remember to create emphasis in your art by making one part stand out. Have fun and when you are done draw your design on a blank piece of paper.

Now that you have finished go to this site to play Pac-Mondrian. A Pac-Man game inspried by the art of Piet Mondian!

Once you have clocked on the site you can choose from 4 different versions to play!
