General Objectives:Students will conduct experiments, make predictions and explore possibilities as it relates to the topic Probability.   

Specific Objectives:  At the end of the lesson the students should be able to 

1.  Make simple predictions (using language-likely, impossible, and certain)

2.  Conduct experiments to determine simple probabilities

Pre-requisites:

How to simplify a fraction

How to add and subtract fractions                                                                                             

Teaching Aids:

      -    Oxford Mathematics for the Caribbean Book 2 30th Edition

-         STP Caribbean Mathematics bk. 2 3rd edition

-         First aid in Mathematics

-         Fundamental Mathematics for the Caribbean bk. 1

-         Manipulative (Cards,dice, coins, etc.)

Teaching Method:

Co-operative learning, discovery,problem solving, guided discovery, explanatory

Citizenship Education Programme:

Order and Orderliness

-         Students will pray before leaving classes once the session is either before break or dismissal.

-         Students must be in lines before leaving and entering classes

Summary of Content /Teaching Procedures:

 Teacher will place some terms on the board and ask students to rearrange them in order.

 Students will look under their desk and the cards in which they receive they will place under the term that they believe best fits the card that is on the board.

 Teacher will start a discussion by asking students what they understand each term to mean especially the sub-topic for the day.

 Students will be sitting in groups and each group will be given separate activities which they will be given 10 minutes to complete and share their findings with the class.

 Teacher will do are cap of the lesson by use of a PowerPoint presentation where students will make their notes.

 The assessment of the lesson will be done in the form of a game (Jeopardy).

 THE WINNING TEAM MEMBERS WILL RECEIVE 2 MERITS EACH.
