Step 1:

  • Form groups of two or three persons.
  • Take the pack of habitat flashcards and the given animal flashcard.
  • Discuss the animal and the different habitats in your group.

Step 2:

  • Use the computers at the back to watch a video related to the animal you are working on. Find your video from the list below:
  - Bear: http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/animals/mammals-animals/bears-and-pandas/deadliest-grizzly-bear/
  - Tiger: http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/animals/mammals-animals/cats/deadliest-tiger-monkey/
  - Hippo: http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/animals/mammals-animals/hippos-rhinos-tapirs/deadliest-hippos-vs/
  - Kangaroo: http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/animals/mammals-animals/kangaroos-koalas-more/deadliest-kangaroo/
  - Zebra: http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/animals/mammals-animals/zebras-horses-camels/deadliest-zebras-vs/
  - Meerkat: http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/animals/mammals-animals/otters-and-meerkats/deadliest-meerkats/
  • Watch the video more than once if needed.

Step 3:

  • Now, you should be able to match your animal with a habitat. Do so, and as a group, discuss the reasons why you think your animal lives in the chosen habitat. Talk about the characteristics of this animal using the knowledge taken from the video, your own previous knowledge, and information made out from seeing the animal flashcard.
  • Make sure you have enough information because you will be presenting your findings to the class in the next step. Watch the video again if need be and revise your presentation.

Step 4:

  • When called out, present your findings and reasoning to the class.
  • When someone else is presenting you must listen and learn from your classmates.
