Applications of Calculus

http://www.wyzant.com/help/math/calculus/introduction/applications_of_calculus

This Web site lists and explains how calculus concepts are used everywhere.

Step Two:

You and/or your partner must determine what concepts you use on a typical day. Remember to think outside of the box and make it personal! If someone does a sport, you may want to think how math is incorporated into different parts of that particular sport. DO NOT USE THE BASIC CONCEPTS, SUCH AS COUNTING THE AMOUNT OF APPLES YOU ATE! If you include such concepts, you and/or your partner will lose points for each one used. You are not allowed to have all your concepts pertaining to only one area of math. For example, Billy Bob cannot have all of the concepts he uses in reference to only Geometry.

After you determine what concepts you use, you will need to figured out how and when you use those concepts. For this competition, you and/or your partner must have a minimum of 5 concepts from different areas of math. If you are working with a partner, you will need to divide the amount of concepts you have by two to make it equivalent to one person's typical day.

Step Three:

Once you and/or your partner have discovered what concepts you use and how/when you use them, you will need to create a presentation to show your findings with the competition's panal of judges. You may create a PowerPoint Presentation, digital movie, poster, etc.
