Hello guys!!!! Are you ready for an exciting hunt for famous persons??? We are sure you will enjoy your journey to freedom through these mysterious people, so have fun with your research and good luck!!!!!!

Prior to the beginning of the activity, you will be introduced with a short explanation of the coming class work. Additionally, there will be a brief discussion about how this research will help you understand your community better. (10 min.)

This web quest will span over three days the final day will be presentations by each of the groups, showing their findings:
Day 1: Research about the mystery person and compilation of information.
Day 2: Transformation of the information gathered either in Power Point Presentation or a Book Presentation.
Day 3: Presentation of the Power Point or the Books.(the presentations will be done by teams showing the research of the 4 famous people in each group)

Phase 1: (Day 1)
You are going to be seated in a previously arranged room of five (5) groups of four (4) chairs forming five small teams of four students. The teams will be named: Mystery#1, Mystery#2, Mystery#3, Mystery#4 and Mystery#5. A sealed envelope will be placed on each team. Enclosed in each envelope you will find four pieces of paper, each one of them with web sites links to research and questions to be answered about the famous person you will have to investigate.
The groups will choose among themselves which famous mystery person each member will be working on. After a short discussion in your groups (10 min.) you will follow the clues, given each member (websites detailed below) and discover your Mystery Person, then follow the research to answer your questions search the net and follow the clues provided below.
Detailed below is the information placed on each piece of paper by team, follow your mystery question to reveal the websites of knowledge...

• When did I come to the U.S.?
• How did I arrive to the U.S.?
• What is my profession?
• What are my contributions to our society?

As you examine the given clues and research the Internet, while following the tips, examination of the gathered information will take place. Conclusions or assumptions will be formed by you about the famous person; some will be confirmed as the research goes into greater depth while others will be discarded. You will take notes as the totality of data is compiled. Remember to answer the questions adequately (25 min.). Extra credit point will be given for those of you that identify your Famous person as coming into the U.S. through, the Peter Pan Operation, Freedom Flights, or Mariel Boat Lift, complete this bonus round with your team, every team has a famous person arriving through one of these immigration events.
Finally you will be reminded that this is one example of a migrant group and their sacrifice and achievement in this great country full of migrant groups. They are one piece on a large mosaic of what we call today America’s dream. (5 min.)

Phase 2: (Day 2)
Now you are ready to start thinking in your final product!! With the information you gathered in Phase 1 (Day 1), you and the peers of your team will decide how to present your research about these famous people (10 min.). You have two options for the presentation:
• PowerPoint Presentation: You will present the answers to the four questions above; you can create a PowerPoint with pictures and mini clips of your famous people like music videos and pictures of the inventions, or perhaps a baseball game and add photos of their lives in Cuba versus their lives here. Remember keep it brief and have fun with it .Be creative.
• Create a Book: You can create a book similar to a PowerPoint but it could be perhaps a little more creative. Use construction paper or make it into a scrapbook form. Provide pictures, either hand-drawn or printed online, onto the book and describe and provide insight on your famous person and their lifestyle upon immigrating to the U.S.
Duration of the activity: 40 min.
At the end you will have your final product finished and the mystery will be solved!!!!

Phase 3: (Day 3)
Now you are ready to show your classmates about your mystery famous person!!!!
Your team will be call upon to present the final product in form of a power point or book presentation. Your group will have 10 min. for the presentation. (5 groups, 10 min. each, 50 min. total). Your instructor will summarize the influence of these famous people and many others in the local economy, culture, businesses, education, sports, etc as well as nationally pointing out how their Journey to Freedom wasn’t in vain. 
You will be graded according to the rubric provided in the Web Quest.
