Wonderful Water Cycle

PART I:

You will visit the Environment Protection Agency's website through the following links:   http://www.epa.gov/ogwdw/kids/flash/flash_watercycle.html

and  http://www.kidzone.ws/water/

You will prepare a keynote presentation that will include these slides:

1.  Cover page with the title, your name and classroom number

2.  First slide:  Title:   What is the water cycle?  (Write what you know about water in the Earth.)

3.  Second Slide:  A picture of the water cycle

4.  Third slide:  Title:   Evaporation (Write what you know about the process of evaporation in the water cycle, you can add a picture.)

5. Forth slide:   Transpiration (Write what you know about transpiration you can add a picture.)

6.  Fifth slide:   Condensation  (Write what you know about condensation you can add a picture.)

7.  Sixth slide:  Precipitation (Write what you know about precipitation, you can add a picture.)

8.  Seventh slide:  Runoff Water (Write what you know about runoff water, you can add a picture.)

9.  Eight slide:   Ground water (Write what you know about ground water, you can add a picture.)

10.  Ninth slide:  Write about what you have learned.

Listen to the directions, and then click on 'auto' to play the video.  Listen carefully as you will have to answer the following questions that come directly from the interactive explanation.  Copy the following questions in your Science notebook and answer them in complete sentences. 

1.  Where do we get the water we use everyday?

2.  What is evaporation in the water cycle?  How is water vapor formed?

3.  What is condensation in the water cycle?

4.  What is transpiration?

5.  What is precipitation and what are the forms of precipitation?

6.  What is runoff water?

7.  What is ground water?

PART II:

After you have completed Part I, visit the following link leading you to another part of the EPA website, http://www.epa.gov/ogwdw/kids/flash/flash_watercycle.html. Through this website, you will play the "Question & Answer" game.  

Follow the directions and play the game. The game will keep score for you. Most of the questions in this game you should be able to easily answer, as we have learned these things throughout our unit on the water cycle.  However, there are a few questions that take some extra thought.  Go through the game without using any notes or online resources, and see how well you can do.  Answer all 25 questions, and at the end there will be a page that thanks you for playing and shows your final score. 

PART III:

 You have seen  an episode of The Magic School Bus,in the library on the water cycle, and I have included this same episode so you can view it again,  and one more video that are about the water cycle.  Scroll down the page to find the link to the videos.  Pay careful attention to the different elements of the videos, because it will help give you ideas to start developing your final presentation. 

PART IV:

In the classroom, you will use the information to create a keynote presentation on the I Pads.   When the presentation is complete, you will present it to the rest of the class.    You will be graded for the content of the presentation and how well you present it to the rest of the class.
