Cooking with Fractions

Step 1:  In groups of four, students will research 3 items they will be preparing for dinner.  You will need to choose an entree, side dish and cookies for dessert.  Use this link to find a recipe: http://www.cooksrecipes.com

Step 2:  Once you have found your items you are cooking, you need to start figuring out your measurements.  For the entree, you need to double the recipe.  You will need to type up this recipe after you conversion.

Step 3:  Next, double the recipe for your side dish.  Also ,type this recipe up.

Step 4:  Take your cookie recipe and triple it for your sisters bake sale.  Type this up as well.

Step 5:  Your group will need to put together your meal in a packet to present to the class.  In your packet you need to include the original recipes and your conversions.  Make sure your conversions are correct!!!

Step 6:  As a group, choose one of your recipes to make.  Your group will need to prepare the dish at one of your homes.  We will be sharing our meals together in class.
