First you have to pick your NFL team out of a hat.  Once you have chosen your NFL team proceed onto Phase 1.

Phase 1-Background Information

         Watch the probability video from Khan Academy to review how to find probability and answer the review questions based on the clip.

      1.)   What is the formula to find probability of an event?

      2.)  What is the probability of flipping a fair coin and it landing on heads?

      3.)  What is the probability of getting a 1 when rolling a fair die?

      4.)  What is the probability of rolling a 1 or a 6 when rolling a fair die?

      5)  What is the probability of rolling a 2 and a 3 when rolling a fair die?

Phase 2-Research

1.) Use the websites below to reasearch your NFL team's record so far for the 2012 season.

a.)    Find your team�s total winning record.

b.)    Find your team�s home winning record.

c.)    Find your team�s away winning record.

2.)    Use the following website to find the remaining schedule for your NFL team for 2012.

3.)    Use the following websites to research your team's remaining opponents' records.

      http://www.nfl.com/standings

      http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/standings

a.)    Find each opponent�s total winning record.

b.)    Find each opponent�s home winning record.

c.)    Find each opponent�s away winning record.

4.)    Based on your research, find the probability of your team winning each of its remaining games.  Also, find the probability of your team's opponents winning the game against your team.  Which team is more likely to win based on what you found?

Phase 3- PowerPoint Presentation

1.)    Make a PowerPoint to present your NFL team�s chances of winning their remaining games of the regular season.  Support every decision based on the probabilities you found for your NFL team and its opponents.  Which team is more likely to win each game and why? 

2.)    The final slide of your PowerPoint should have your NFL team�s projected record based on your research.

3.)    Present your findings to the other NFL�s statisticians in class.
