So now we have data from a running record. The data tells us if the text they read was their Independent Level, Instructional Level, or their Frustration Level. Knowing this will help you to form your groups for small group instruction and for the student to know what their independent level is for when they are going to pick out books for independent reading. During this section we are going to be looking at Guided Reading and we will be using the book that the district has provided to all of you; The Next Step in Guided Reading Focused Assessments and Targeted Lessons for Helping Every Student Become and Better Reader, by Jan Richardson.
