The Adventures of Ulysses: Understanding the choices made and the paths chosen.

Step 1: Make sure you have a copy of The Adventures of Ulysses by Bernard Evslin with an intact table of contents.  Using your table of contents and the links listed in Step 2, each person from your group needs to choose ONEof the adventures assigned to you.

Step 2: Each member of your group needs to read your assigned chapters from The Adventures of Ulysses by Bernard Evslin.

** Remember:  The Adventures of Ulysses is the Roman version of the Greek epic The Odyssey**

Step 4:  Write a short explanation of why Ulysses came to be at the adventure you chose and how it affected his adventure.  Make sure you include information from the book as well as the website you read from. Also, make sure you describe the setting, feeling and conflict that arose on this adventure.  Remember, each group member should be in charge of an adventure, but that does not mean you cannot help each other.

Step 5:   Choose one of the following to create as a visual for your presentation (only 1 type per group): a travel brochure (click for help then click on bookreviewbroshure), at least a 5 panel comic strip, poster depicting important events from your chapter (this should show understanding of the chapter without explanation), at least a 5 slide PowerPoint, at least a 5 entry diary, or a chapter diagram (click for help then click on make a graphic). For help, reference The Adventures of Ulysses book.  For further help, reference this website.  

Step 6:  Present your project and findings of your chosen adventures to the class. Your presentation should be at least 3 minutes long.  Each person in your group will present the adventure they chose to study and help explain the choices made while creating their project.

Alternative Step 5 assigned by teacher only: (Create a map of all the adventures Ulysses has on his journey, including the Trojan War at the beginning and his return to Ithica at the end.  You will need a poster board for this as well as coloring materials to make it colorful and interesting).
