The Artists of the Harlem Renaissance
Process
Day One: Students will begin by reviewing and responding to the PowerPoint presentation, "The Artists of the Harlem Renaissance." Discussion of all answers will follow.
Day Two: Students will begin class with a discussion of African-Americans who have made positive contributions to their field and/or culture. The class will discuss why these people are included in the discussion. All contributors will be listed on the board. Once the list is complete, students will select who they would like to create a portrait of for "The Faces of Black History" assignment. Pre-printed portraits will be available for students to use.
Days Three - Seven: Students will work independently in class on their portrait.
