Task 1: You will complete a scavenger worksheet based on assigned websites and create a timeline reflecting the gathered information. You will make your clothesline timeline resemble the example given in the resources section below. Your timeline must include the information from your scavenger hunt worksheet. The scavenger hunt can be found below in the resource section.
Task 2: You will listen and analyze an exert from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a dream speech" on youtube, and identify key points. You are to write down some of the dreams that Dr. King states in his speech, and discuss with your group whether or not his dreams have come true. At the end of the lesson the teacher will read a excerpt from the books Martin's Big Words by Doreen Rappaport and Climbing Lincoln's Steps by S. Glade. The stories will help connect the dreams of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his journey throughout the Civil Rights Movement.
Task 3: You will create your own I have a dream mobile. The mobile must consist of five dreams that will be written inside of clouds and hung on a hanger by string. The mobiles will be presented and displayed in class. There is an example of a dream mobile in the resources section.
