Process
* The whole class will read "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler."
* Students will complete the webquest activities after they have finished the
last chapter in the novel.
WEBQUEST ACTIVITIES
1. Students will visit http://www.metmuseum.org While exploring the various galleries, students will document three artifacts that are similar to the artifacts mentioned in the novel.
2. Students will enter the "Kids Museum" within the Metropolitan Museum of Art. http://metmuseum.org/learnfor%20kids From there, they will complete a search for "The Mixed-Up Files Issue." Students will download this article. Students will read "The Mixed Up Files Issue" and answer accompanying questions. Download the questions and print. See Resources below.
3. Students will visit http://www.bluffton.edu/~sullivanm/italy/bologna/arca/arca.html and view a picture of the angel statute Michelangelo created.
4. Students will visit http://wga.hu/tours/sistina/ and view a picture of the famous "Sistene Chapel."
5. Students will create a masterpiece of their own. Students will tape a piece of 8-1/2 x 11 white construction paper to the underside of their desk. They will lie on their backs, on the floor, and create a favorite scene from the novel.
6. Students will visit http://puzzlemaker.discoveryeducation.com/WordSearchSetupForm.asp
Using 15 vocabulary words (gathered during the reading of the novel), students will create a word search. Students will print their word searches and complete.
7. Students will visit http://www.quia.com/custom/3227main.html They will choose a vocabulary game of their choice to play.
