Phase One - Background Information

Review the following sites as a team. These sites are important because they will provide basic information about Robin Hood as a whole. Everyone should explore these sites before starting your individual task. Please see the links at the bottom of the page also.

Phase Two - Roles

Robin Hood - Known for "stealing from the rich and giving to the poor," you were a notorious outlaw in English folklore. Use the links below to answer the following questions. Summarize your answers, do not copy & paste answers from the Web sites.

  2. Where did he live and When did he live?
  3. How is Robin Hood portrayed in popular media? Hint: Use the Disney link to answer this question!
  4. After reviewing your links, in your opinion, is Robin Hood a hero? Why or why not?

Little John - Robin's most trusted and loyal sidekick, you are second in command (behind Robin, of course) of the band of outlaws known as the Merry Men. Use the links below to answer the following questions. Summarize your answers, do not copy and paste answers from the Web sites.

  1. Who was Little John? What did he look like?
  2. What was your role in the Robin Hood legends?
  3. Who were the Merry Men?

Maid Marian - Robin Hood's love interest, you fought for and supported his cause. Use the links to answer the following questions. Summarize your answers, do not copy & paste directly from the Web sites.

  3.  According to legend, how did Maid Marian and Robin meet? (Where were they?)

The Sheriff of Nottingham - Robin Hood is your greatest enemy. You are in charge of collecting the taxes for Prince John. In media and folklore, you are often portrayed as the villain.

  1. Who was the Sheriff of Nottingham?
  2. Why did he despise Robin Hood?
  3. How is the Sheriff portrayed in popular media? Hint: Use the Disney link to answer this question!
  4. After reviewing your links, in your opinion, was Robin Hood a hero? Why or Why not?

 Phase Three - Debate, Discuss, and Reach a Consensus

You have all learned about different parts of Robin Hood. Now group members come back to the larger WebQuest team with expertise gained by searching from one perspective. Teach your fellow teammates about your character (who they were, why they were important, share the answers to your questions). You must all now complete the Task as a group. As a group create a poster for one of the characters you researched. (That means you all must decide on one of the characters as a group to create a poster for).

Phase Four - The Presentation

Up to this point you have each researched an important role within the Robin Hood legends. You have determined which character your group will make a poster for. Be as creative as you would like!

**Your Poster Must Include:**

A creative title

A picture of your character

Three facts about your character

Why they were an important character in the Robin Hood Legends.
