Unusual Sports

Process

process(53).jpg

Step 1

Your first warm-up task is to complete a gap-filling exercise that you can find on http://uk1.hotpotatoes.net/ex/29119/DQAORGIX.php.

Step 2

The second warm-up task is a matching exercise. This will be important to your further work: it includes the basic sports equipment vocabulary. Go to http://uk1.hotpotatoes.net/ex/29119/UUIILISW.php.

Step 3

Think about what sports you want to write about. You can go through these web sites to see the whole range of different sports:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sports

http://www.topendsports.com/events/discontinued/unusual.htm

http://www.olympic.org/uk/sports/recognized/index_uk.asp

http://www.listof.org/list-of-sports.html

http://www.ugsport.co.uk/sport-list-of-sports.asp

http://www.abc.net.au/rollercoaster/dash/wowsports/

http://www.sports-clubs.net/

Step 4

Think about the layout of the leaflet. Its size will be A4 and you will have to create 4 pages to make it attractive and informative. It will include:

- front page with information about the club

- two inside pages, each presenting one unusual sport: its brief history, basic rules, whether it is already known and played somewhere in your country, world competitions connected with it, pictures

- back page including invitation to the club, information about the place (possibly with a map), the date and the time of recruitment, the schedules of practices for each sport and contacts

Step 5

Decide which role to choose. The roles are various so you can choose the one that suits you best:

- Role 1: designing the front page and inventing information about the club

- Role 2: searching for history of chosen sports and giving examples of places in your country where they are already played

- Role 3: explaining basic rules and searching for competitions held in the world

- Role 4: designing the back page and choosing photos of sports and equipment

Step 6

Use these websites to fulfill your tasks or to find inspiration:

Step 7

Print your leaflet using an A3 paper and folding it in half.

Step 8

Hand your leaflet in!
