Route 66 on a Budget

    1. You are driving solo to your Route 66 destination.
    2. Choose Your Destination:
    3. Study the Route 66 map and choose your destination city: http://www.theroadwanderer.net/route66 (Slide 1)
    4. Write a Summary
    5. Google your chosen city and write a summary about your city to include: Major economy, population, and five interesting sites: http://www.historic66.com/  (Slide 2)
    6. Gas Prices Comparision Chart
    7. Check the gas prices in the cities along the Route to your chosen city. Make a graph comparing the gas prices along your chosen route. Access the following website to obtain gas prices: http://gasprices.mapquest.com/ (Slide 3)
    8. Average Cost of Gas
    9. Average the cost of gas from your beginning point to your destination. For the purposes of this WebQuest, your beginning point will be San Bernardino, California where Route 66 originates (Remember to figure out the average price of gasoline you must first add the price of gas in each of the cities and divide your answer by the total number of cities you will be driving through.     15. For purposes of this WebQuest use the average speed limit of 55 miles an hour. Decide the model and year of the vehicle you will be traveling in. Go to the following website to obtain the total cost for fuel: http://www.fuelcostcalculator.com/ (Slide 6)
    16. Total Cost for Accommodations
    17. Now you have to consider accommodatiions. Once you have figured out how many nights you will need to stay in a hotel/motel, choose the hotels/motels you will stay at along your Route 66 road trip. Add the cost per night for your accommodations. http://www.expedia.com/ (Slide 7)
