Part 2: Evaluation of WebQuest Examples

Overview
Before jumping on creating a webquest, you will need to see some of the examples and learn how to evaluate the your selection of WebQuest using WebQuest Evaluation Rubric. This will help you understanding the concept of a WebQuest and be able to seperate the good ones from WebQuest like webpages. It is very important to complete this step before starting your own WebQuest.

Step 1: Selecting an example:
Fortunately, we have a database of many webquest seperated by the grade subject or a search term of your selection.
Go to http://zunal.com/all.php to browse the WebQuest database. Go through several of the WebQuest and select the one you would like to review

Step 2: Evaluating a WebQuest:
Now that you're familiar with the elements of a WebQuest, it's time to begin judging the quality of a WebQuest. Just because a WebQuest contains the essential elements, doesn't mean that it's perfect for your classroom. Look beyond the structure and examine the effectiveness, efficiency, and appeal of the project. Ask yourself:

  • Is it a quality project?
  • Does it fit my needs?
  • Is it a good use of time?
  • Is it a good use of technology?

Use one of the WebQuest Rubrics listed to guide your evaluations or use the one your instructor selected or

Step 3: Feedback for WebQuest:
This step is optional. Your instructor might recommend which of the following actions you will complete. Once you evaluate a WebQuest, you will either

  • Discuss the results with your group or others about the quality, evaluation score, and your feedback for the WebQuest you evaluated.

OR

  • Submit (email) your evaluation report and your recomendations to your instructor. (For Online Courses)

Note: Since you went through all the evaluation process, we recommend that you can leave your feedback for the person who created the WebQuest using "Review" button on any of the WebQuest hosted on zunal.com. This will help a lot to the creator of the WebQuest and give him/her more publicity.
