  1. Download the Pythagorean Theorem Data Table to use during this investigation.
  2. Using the Online Geoboard link, create various right triangles according to the length of the legs given in the data table.  Remember, the legs are the sides that meet to create the 90 degree angle.
  3. Build squares off of the legs of the right triangle and count the areas.  Copy this data down in the data table.
  4. Build a square off of the hypotenuse of the right triangle and count the area of the square.  Copy this data down in the data table.
  5. Do this until the data table is complete.
  6. What pattern do you notice between the area of the squares on the legs of the right triangle and the area of the square on the hypotenuse?
