Activity 1: Self-Marketing Plan
By now in the WebQuest, you have completed some self-reflection and hopefully have gained a better understanding of your own preferences, strengths, and values. You have also worked with classmates to identify various factors that should be considered when thinking about pursuing a job with a company. You have also conducted an Informational Interview with an alumnus to gain additional first-hand knowledge of the fashion industry.

To tie it all together and complete your WebQuest, you will create a personal Self Marketing Plan that builds a connection between existing and new knowledge of both self and the industry. Spend some time comparing and thoughtfully reviewing the insight gained from Steps 1 – 3 of this WebQuest. Your Self Marketing Plan should contain the following information:

Career area of interest: Indicate a position(s) (Example: Visual Merchandiser) and several sentences describing the position. Try to limit it to one or two.

Business model: Indicate one to two business models that most interest you and several sentences describing why you might prefer to work in that sort of environment.

Market/Price Point, Category, + Classification: Indicate the markets, categories, and classifications that most interest you and several sentences describing why you prefer them. Try to limit this to no more than two for each.

Anticipated Job Responsibilities: Briefly describe you daily activities. In several sentences indicate why this is a good match with your preferences and strengths.

Company + Culture: Briefly describe in several sentences the type of company and culture that resonates with your preferences and values.

Location: Indicate 2 – 3 geographical locations that you would like to work in. How does this align with you preferences and values?

Target Companies: Create a list of six companies that align with most of this information, and for each one indicate in 1 – 2 sentences why they would be a good fit for your future career search.

Conclusion: Write one to two paragraphs analyzing any patterns or themes you have noticed after completing this SMP. How might this knowledge impact your future career search?

Assignment details: This should be a 1- 2 page document; single spaced, and saved in PDF format. You may submit via the designated assignment link in Blackboard.
