The War in the Far East. The WW2. 7/12/1941- 14/8/1945
American bombing raids have heavily damaged the home island of Japan,
but Japan is unwilling to surrender and prepares to fight to the very end.
In orderto deal a major blow to the nation of Japan itself and force the Emperor to surrender,
President Harry S. Truman authorizes the use of the atomic bomb.
On August 6, 1 945, the first atomic bomb is dropped on Hiroshima.
On August 14, Japan surrenders.

Description: The B-29 bomber Enola Gay dropped the uranium bomb Little Boy on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Three days later the plutonium bomb Fat Man was used to bomb the Japanese city of Nagasaki. The two bombs killed approximately 150,000 people when they fell. On August 15, 1945, Japan officially surrendered, bringing an end to World War II.
