Congratulations! You have just traveled back to the time of Nevada's Desert Archaic People, the first known people in Nevada. You will be discovering all about the lifestyles of Nevada's Desert Archaic People.

On this first time machine stop, you will learn all about the lifestyles of Nevada's Desert Archaic People.

Consider this important question: What were the lifestyles of Nevada's Desert Archaic People like, and do you think they missed having all of the newer technologies we have today? Why or why not?

Before you start exploring, your first task to put in your portfolio will be a KWL chart. In order to make this chart, choose a piece of construction paper that has been provided for you. Divide this piece of paper into three equal columns by folding it into thirds. At the top of the first column write the word "know". At the top of the second column, write the words "Want to Know", and at the top of the third column write the word "Learned". Before you start your exploration, walk around the room and look at the Desert Archaic Objects that have been provided on table #1. After looking at these objects, write what you know about Nevada's Desert Archaic People's lifestyles under the know column of your KWL chart. If you don't know much, that's okay, your discoveries are soon to begin. Next, under the Want to Know column, write anything and everything that you want to know about the lifestyles of Nevada's Desert Archaic People. Now it is time to have fun, and explore each website provided below to learn more about the lifestyles of Nevada's Desert Archaic People. As you learn about their lifestyles, write down what you have learned about their lifestyles in the learned column. Next to the pieces of information you have learned, you also have the option to draw a picture of what you learned as well to make your KWL chart more visually appealing.

Before putting this KWL chart in your learning portfolio, self-assess your KWL chart using the provided self-assessment checklist. If you did not meet all of the required items on the checklist, you should go back and add or revise to your KWL chart.  If you have all of the required items on the checklist, and you have done your best, put this KWL chart in your portfolio and continue your journey to time machine stop #2.
