World History

What types of products were traded in the Slave Trade Triangle?

The African Slave Trade started when Portuguese sailors kidnapped and/or traded for African villagers, which would be shipped and sold as slaves around the world. This was a very profitable business for Europeans, which also included the Dutch, French, Spanish and British.

Native Africans were taken away from their homes by slave traders. The Africans were marched to the coast where they waited in slave camps until a ship came to take them away from their homeland. It has been estimated that millions died on the march to the coast and the voyage in the slave ships.
