During the summer of 1940 Hitler prepared for "Operation Sealion", the invasion of Britain.

Invasion barges were assembled on the north coast of France.

In the meantime  the Luftwaffe set about destroying the Raf.

From 10th July to 7th September the Luftwaffe bombed convoy of British ships in the channel,  radar stations and fighter bases.

On 15th September the Luftwaffe bombed London in daylight.

On 17th September Hitler postponed the invasion.

In the whole of the Battle of Britain the British lost 857 planes but Germans twice as many.

Britain had been saved.
