Advertisements play a crucial role in today's society on adolescents.  People of all ages see about 3,000 advertisements per day.  Tobacco companies use their advertisements to target adolescents.  They want to get them addicted while they are young so they stay addicted as adults.  Studies have shown that the earlier youth start to use nicotine the more likely they are to become addicted as adults.  It has also shown that it makes it harder to quit as an adult because the nicotine rewires the brain, since it is still developing until age 20.  This lesson is designed to make students aware of the false advertisements of tobacco companies.
