Using Linear Equations in Slope-Intercept Form (Celio Perales)
Introduction
Word problems are difficult for many students because the students do not know where to start or what questions they should be asking. The videos below address slope intercept in general as well as certain strategies to use when working with word problems. The word problem the students will be working on for this lesson relates to the State's Competancy Goal 4 which states that the learner will use relations and functions to solve problems. Specifically, the problem addresses the following:
Objective 4.01: Use linear functions or inequalities to model and solve problems; justify results.
a. Solve using tables, graphs, and algebraic properties.
b. Interpret constants and coefficients in the context of the problem.
