The Human Digestive System
Introduction
Today we will be looking at The Human Digestive System and its functions. Let's brainstorm what we know about the human digestive system, what first comes to mind when we hear the concept. Discussion will take place about what students know, after discussion it will be distributed that the human digestive system consists of the gastrointestinal tract plus the accessory organs of digestion (the tongue, salivary glands, pancreas, liver, and gallbladder). Digestion involves the breakdown of food into smaller and smaller components, until they can be absorbed and assimilated into the body.
