Procedure Text

The purpose or social function of procedure text is to describe how to make or do something.

The generic structure of procedure text is :

Goal : It contains the purpose of the text. (e.g : How to make spaghetti)
Materials or Ingredient : it contains the materials which are used in the process. (e.g : the materials to make omelet are egg, onion, vegetable oil, etc. )
Steps / methods: it contains the steps to make or do something. (e.g : first, wash the tomatoes, onion, ...., second cut the onions becomes slice. . . )

The language features of procedure text

1. Use simple present tense
2. Use adverbial of sequence (e.g : first, second,third,the last,etc.)
3. Use command ( e.g : put the...cut the...,)

  1. Begin in the name of Allah SWT, by saying “Bismillah”.
  2. Completely wash the hands including the wrist between the fingers three time.
  3. Put the water into your mouth using the right hand, do this three time.
  4. Sriff the water into your nose close as far as possible with the right hand and than blow it out, do this three time
  5. Washing the face from the forehead to the chin. Making sure the all of face is wased, do this three time.
  6. Washing the right arm begining the finger tips, washing the hand and arm. Up to and including the elbow. Do this three time.
  7. Starting at the forehead moving the hands to back of the head line, and than back to the forehead all in one movement. This is done once only.
  8. Wet the insight grooves with the index fingers, and the back of the ears with the thumbs.
  9. Wash the right foot including the ankle, make sure between the toes all also wased, do this three time.The same is the left foot, washing it up to and including the ankle ensuring you wased between the toes do this three time.
  10. Preferable to say after the wudhu.
