The Renaissance: A Rebirth

Introduction

michelangelo.jpg

The great Renaissance painter Michelangelo once said, "I hope that I may always desire more than I can accomplish." This statement embodies the philosophy which drove the European Renaissance of the 14th-16th centuries. Your job, as Renaissance scholars, is to work in groups of five to research both the causes and effects of the Renaissance. You will work to discover what factors caused this "rebirth" of art, literature, and other humanities to begin in Italy rather than other European countries, as well as to research effects of the Renaissance, such as advacements in the field of art, science, and literature. As the original "Renaissance Man" Leonardo da Vinci once said, "Learning never exhausts the mind." This research will help you to see the long lasting effects of Renaissance advancements. Good luck!
